Google will update its gambling and gaming policy in Germany later this month, allowing only operators and affiliates licensed by the German Interstate Treaty on Gambling (GGL) to be eligible for advertising certification.
Previously, Google allowed companies active in the German gambling market to advertise to players in the country without checking whether these entities were licensed.
However, in the latest news released last week, Google stated that starting from September 25, certification applications from companies without a license will be rejected. From that date, all existing certifications of companies without a GGL license will be revoked.
Although the policy seems to be aimed at operators, Google explicitly states that the policy includes "operators who provide gambling aggregation services, such as linking to multiple offers from different operators on their landing pages".
