The American Gaming Association (AGA) estimates that regulated sports betting companies in the U.S. are expected to wager $35 billion on the NFL this season.
According to the American Gaming Association, betting on the NFL this season is expected to reach new heights, with the amount wagered on America's most popular league possibly reaching $35 billion.
The American Gaming Association states that the estimated $35 billion is about 30% higher than last year's NFL betting amounts, based on data from professional football betting amounts published by some states. For example, the Colorado Division of Gaming reported that the betting amount for "professional American football" for the fiscal year 2023/2024 was $890.3 million.
Since the last NFL season, Maine, North Carolina, and Vermont have launched legal online betting markets. Overall, entering the NFL season, 38 states and the District of Columbia now have legal betting markets.
