Brazil.- The appointment of Giovanni Rocco Neto as the National Secretary of Sports Betting and Economic Development of Sport at the Ministry of Sports was made official. The appointment is signed by the minister of the Civil House, Rui Costa.
With a degree in Law and a postgraduate degree in Political Science, Giovanni Rocco Neto has experience in the Legislative and Executive powers. Rocco stood out as president of the Association in Defense of Integrity, Rights, and Duties in Games and Betting and followed the approval of Bill 2234/22 in the Senate Federal Constitution and Justice Committee and played a significant role in the institutional work in the National Congress during the voting of bill 3626/23, turned into Law 14.790/23, which taxed companies and bettors, defined rules for the operation of the service, and determined the distribution of revenues from sports betting and online games.
Working in the capital, Rocco held important roles in institutions such as Ability Relations Governmental and the Grande ABC Intermunicipal Consortium as director of programs and projects and coordinating the Covid-19 crisis office in Grande ABC Paulista. He worked in the Chamber of Deputies for three years, in addition to acting as a consultant in the structuring of the Central Brazil Consortium. In the Executive, his experience includes working at the Municipality of São Bernardo do Campo, where he held the position of Special Advisor for Government and Economic Affairs. Rocco was also the Executive Secretary of the Economic Development Agency of Grande ABC for five years.
Now, in his new challenge, Rocco Neto will reaffirm his commitment to the integrity and development of the sports betting sector in Brazil, the great challenge of regulating the sector, with a strong fight against illegal websites.
The National Secretary of Sports Betting and Economic Development of Sport is responsible for: conducting studies and planning, coordinating, and supervising actions that promote the development of the sports market, in order to facilitate access to equipment and structures and the improvement of national sport at all levels.
In the area of sports betting, the new National Secretary will be responsible for ensuring the integrity of the unpredictability of sports events and results, as well as planning, coordinating, and implementing partnerships with public and private entities, both national and international, to maintain the integrity of sports betting, with the aim of detecting, combating, and preventing the manipulation of sports events and results.

The new ministerial body will be responsible for working in collaboration with other federal public administration bodies, the States, the Federal District, and the Municipalities in the prevention and combat of the manipulation of sports betting, within the competencies of the Secretary.
