The Social Group ONCE, which develops the "Extraordinary Chair on Responsible Gaming and its Communication" in collaboration with the Complutense University of Madrid, organized a hackathon.
Spain.- The Social Group ONCE, which carries out the "Extraordinary Chair on Responsible Gaming and its Communication" in collaboration with the Complutense University of Madrid (UCM), organized the hackathon "Practice Responsible Gaming" aimed at students. The goal of the contest was to develop creative projects to communicate the concept of responsible gaming.
In the first edition of the hackathon, more than 50 students presented 14 proposals. The activity was aimed at students of audiovisual communication, journalism, and advertising, as well as students of master's degrees and postgraduate courses related to the work area.

The winning project, from the Pontifical University of Salamanca, consisted of the creation of a podcast that documents experiences of people who have overcome problems related to gaming. The team that took first place received a prize of EUR5,000, distributed among the members and aimed at additional training in related areas. The jury also recognized five finalist projects that stood out for their creativity in communicating responsible gaming.
The chair of ONCE, in collaboration with the UCM, was created three years ago. It focuses on providing resources and information on responsible gaming through various initiatives, including conferences, focus groups, and publications.
The Social Group ONCE managed to create a total of 3,187 jobs among ONCE, ONCE Foundation, and Ilunion in 2023, which represents a growth of 4.6 percent in the number of workers to 71,892, with the aim of reaching a workforce of 75,000 people in the coming months.
