Ecuador.- The Internal Revenue Service (SRI) now has a registry of sports betting operators in Ecuador. According to the director of the entity, Damián Larco, so far there are 65 registered taxpayers. Of that total, 46 are natural persons, while the remaining 19 are companies.
According to the Ecuadorian newspaper El Universo, of the 19 registered companies, two are foreign companies not domiciled in the country: Logflex MT Limited, which operates the Novibet platform, and Kaizen Gaming International, owner of the Betano brand.
The details of the remaining 17 companies are as follows:
As for the natural persons who entered the registry, the details are as follows:
Since last July 1 in Ecuador, a unique income tax has been implemented for sports betting operators. It taxes at a rate of 15 percent the income of operators both resident and non-resident in Ecuador.
This tax was introduced with the Organic Decree Law for the Strengthening of the Family Economy, the last tax reform applied by the government of Guillermo Lasso. But in the first urgent law of President Daniel Noboa, the date for its validity was postponed by six months, hence with the Law of Economic Efficiency and Job Creation it was arranged that the unique tax applies from last July 1.
On July 31, the SRI issued a resolution that sets the deadlines and forms of declaration, as well as the rules for issuing sales and retention vouchers and requirements for registration in the Single Taxpayer Registry (RUC) for the implementation of the unique income tax.

For those companies that have not yet registered, the director of the SRI said in the local media Teleamazonas that controls are going to be carried out, because after all, it is not only about tax evasion, but also about unfair competition with those companies that have registered in the registry.
