The National Communications Entity (ENACOM) will continue to collaborate in the eradication of illegal online gambling.
Argentina.- With the goal of preventing and combating child gambling addiction, the National Communications Entity (ENACOM), which is under the Chief of Cabinet of the Nation, has already facilitated the blocking of more than 1000 illegal online betting websites.
This was stated on Tuesday, September 3, by the Secretary of Innovation, Science and Technology, Darío Genua; and the intervenor of the Entity, Juan Martín Ozores, instructed by the Chief of Cabinet of the Nation, Guillermo Francos.
In this regard, Genua declared: "We are aware that online gambling addiction in children and adolescents is a scourge that occurs under the protection of websites that promote illegal betting. Therefore, we are committed to working jointly with other agencies to prevent the development of these illegal platforms, and to promote initiatives that foster responsible digital citizenship, taking care of the mental health and emotional development of children."
For his part, Ozores said: "We understand the gravity of the situation. For this reason, whenever a judicial order requesting the blocking of access to illegal betting sites arrives at the agency, we immediately inform the internet service providers in the country and the Chambers and Federations that group them so that they can carry it out."
And he added "ENACOM plays the role of intermediary between the justice system and internet providers. So far in 2024, there have already been more than a thousand cases in which the agency has acted to facilitate the blocking of clandestine betting sites."
