Philippine President Marcos on Wednesday (September 4) stated that those who helped the dismissed mayor Guo Huaping escape from the Philippines will face charges.
Marcos said: "All those suspected of assisting Guo to illegally leave the Philippines and evade legal sanctions will pay a price."
Marcos emphasized that the actions of these individuals are against the interests of the Philippine judicial system. Therefore, the government will not just dismiss them and let them step down simply, but will also bring charges against them, as their actions are illegal.
When asked who these individuals were, Marcos said: "You will know soon."
This is not the first time Marcos has made such a statement. When the news of Guo Huaping's escape first broke, he stated that he knew government personnel were involved in the behind-the-scenes actions and took a tough stance of "paying a price." After Marcos's outburst, the investigation into the escape incident accelerated significantly, leading to the rapid arrest and swift extradition of Cassandra Li Ong and Sheila Guo.
Marcos emphasized: "The magic of the law is infinite, it will eventually reach out and strike you. Any evasion is futile, as the people will ultimately prevail."
Marcos also expressed his gratitude to the Indonesian authorities for their role in arresting Guo Huaping and congratulated the law enforcement officers who completed the arrest.
