The Philippine legislative body is highly anticipative of the follow-up on the arrest of Alice Guo in Indonesia, hoping she will appear in the congressional investigations of the Senate and the House of Representatives.
Senate President Francis Escudero stated that her arrest would aid in advancing the investigation into Philippine offshore gaming operators (POGO) and might expose illegal online gambling activities.
Senate Minority Deputy Leader Risa Hontiveros congratulated the cooperation between Philippine and Indonesian law enforcement authorities and looked forward to Alice Guo's prompt attendance at the Senate hearing.
Senator Zhang Qiaowei noted that Alice Guo should be responsible for the charges she faces, including human trafficking, money laundering, and violating Senate orders, and hoped she would reveal individuals involved in illegal online gambling activities.
In the House of Representatives, Reynan Arrogancia, Representative of the third district of Quezon, stated that the Quadrilateral Committee would interrogate Alice Guo through public hearings to strengthen the criminal case against her. The committee is investigating the connections between online gambling, illegal drug trade, and extrajudicial killings.
The Bureau of Immigration (BI) stated that Guo would face deportation upon arrival in the Philippines, as she is suspected of obtaining Filipino citizenship through fraudulent means, causing chaos.
BI spokesperson Dana Sandoval mentioned that other cases involving Alice Guo must be resolved before initiating the deportation process.
Alice Guo's "sister" Shiela Leal Guo and POGO founder Cassandra Li Ong have also been arrested in Indonesia and will undergo similar procedures in the future.
