Zhang Dekong, Deputy Director of the Phnom Penh Police Department, held a meeting at the Sen Sok District Police Station to discuss strengthening the crackdown on crime and strict management of foreigners.
At the meeting, Zhang Dekong asked the Sen Sok district police to enhance social safety and order during the upcoming Day of the Dead, and to crack down on various criminal activities. He also demanded strict inspections of foreigners, including those who reside in Cambodia for both short and long terms.
It is worth mentioning that Cambodia has opened applications for the 2025 foreign employee quota for businesses. Companies wishing to employ foreign workers must apply to the Ministry of Labor for the foreign worker quota starting September 1.
Furthermore, according to the Cambodian Labor Law, foreigners holding a business visa who work in Cambodia must obtain a work permit, otherwise, it is considered illegal employment; if staying in Cambodia for no more than 30 days or renewing for one month, that is, 60 days, there is no need for a work permit.
If staying for more than 90 days (3 months), it is advisable to obtain a work permit.
