The banking entity seeks to promote financial education among young people and prevent them from gambling.

Argentina.- Santander Argentina announced a new measure to prevent problematic gambling in minors: the cards linked to their NOVA accounts, aimed at young people between 13 and 17 years old, will not be able to be used on online betting sites or any associated with gambling.

«This initiative is part of the commitment assumed by the first digital bank with branches in Argentina to promote financial education, responsible use of money, and to protect young people from the risks associated with online betting sites,» the bank highlighted.

Rodrigo Park, Director of Corporate Communications at Santander Argentina, spoke about the bank's initiative and said: «Gambling addiction is a complex issue that requires a multidisciplinary approach. Therefore, as an important player in the financial system, we want to be part of the conversation and contribute solutions».

He added: «We are committed to the well-being of our young clients and their families, and we believe that this measure is a further step to help them develop healthy habits in relation to money care and protect them from the risks involved in the irresponsible use of gambling».

Park explained that the restriction on transactions in this area for young people is one more action within the various initiatives carried out by the bank, as for several years, Santander has been promoting financial education for children.

According to the bank, the measure seeks to reduce the chances of adolescents accessing activities that jeopardize their emotional and financial well-being. In addition, Santander highlighted that it offers online financial education tools so that young people learn not only to manage their money but also to prevent these types of new addictions.

«Through programs focused on financial education, Santander developed various initiatives to raise awareness of the risks of gambling, promoting the understanding of the value of money in relation to effort and merit,» detailed from the bank.

Furthermore, as part of its Responsible Banking agenda, they seek to reinforce the concept that investing is not gambling, emphasizing the difference between logic and luck, and that betting is not a game.
