Philippines' Interior Minister Benhur Abalos confirmed on Saturday (September 7) that authorities are preparing to extradite Wesley Guo, who is said to be the brother of the dismissed Mayor of Banban, Alice Guo.
Abalos stated at a news forum in Quezon City, "This should be confidential, but we cannot do that."
The head of the Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG) referred to a statement by the Guo siblings' legal advisor, Stephen David, saying that Wesley wanted to surrender to the authorities.
He added, "This situation is happening at the Philippine National Police (PNP) and another camp."
Authorities previously stated that Wesley was one of the individuals ordered to be arrested by the Senate, who had attempted to fly to Hong Kong in the last week of August.
Last Wednesday, immigration officials stated that Indonesian authorities had been searching for Wesley.
According to Alice Guo and Wesley's sister Shiela, the three of them took a boat from the Philippines to Malaysia three times. From there, they flew to Singapore and then took a ferry to Batam Island, Indonesia.
Shiela said that she parted ways with Wesley and Alice Guo on Batam Island, Indonesia, where she and Cassandra Li Ong were arrested.
Ong is Wesley's girlfriend and the authorized representative of Lucky South 99, a POGO center raided in Porac, Pampanga Province.
Abalos refused to disclose details, only stating that there is an "ongoing team" handling the matter.
"I have no comment on this. I might preempt. I'm just confirming this... as the lawyer said, but there is an ongoing team," he said.
