On September 8, 2024, the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) in the Philippines interrogated Alice Guo prior to her extradition back to the Philippines regarding a notarized document, her suspected body double, and issues with NBI certification.
The dismissed mayor of Banban city was questioned while the Indonesian Immigration Bureau was preparing to release her departure permit. Atty. Joselito Valle, a member of the NBI special task force, asked Alice Guo if she knew a lawyer named "Atty. Galicia." Initially, Guo admitted with a smile but refused to disclose any details.
Atty. Lito Magno, the assistant director of NBI, showed her a photo on a mobile phone and asked, "Is this you?" Guo denied it, stating that the person in the photo was her employee, humorously noting that it was a "thinner version" of herself. Sources suggest that Guo might have used a body double to mislead immigration and law enforcement authorities.
Furthermore, the NBI compared Alice Guo's fingerprints and confirmed that she and a Chinese citizen named Guo Hua Ping are the same person. This discovery has led to additional legal issues for Guo.
Currently, Alice Guo faces multiple charges related to a raided gambling operation center (POGO) in Banban, including money laundering, tax evasion, and false statements in her mayoral campaign documents. Additionally, the Senate has issued an arrest warrant for her due to her repeated absences from hearings concerning illegal POGO activities.
Alice Guo has been handed over to the Philippine police and is currently detained at the Philippine National Police Detention Center in Camp Crame, Quezon. The Senate has requested her presence at the upcoming legislative investigation related to POGO.
