Philippine Senate President Francis "Chiz" Escudero has called for the real masterminds behind the illegal Philippine Offshore Gaming Operators (POGO) to be exposed in the Senate investigation, not just the frontline operators.
In a radio interview, Escudero expressed his regret that most of those accused in the illegal POGO cases are Filipinos, and questioned why the foreigners believed to be controlling from behind are not being held accountable.
He pointed out: "Why do we only see Filipinos being involved so far? We hope this investigation will reveal the truth and bring the real culprits to justice."
Escudero also commented on the detention issue of former Banban Mayor Alice Guo. He emphasized that although the Senate had issued an arrest warrant for Guo, the court's warrant takes precedence over the Senate's order, and Guo's case is currently being handled by the Tarlac District Court. Alice Guo faces charges for violating the Anti-Corruption and Corrupt Practices Act.
The Senate has requested the court to allow Guo to attend the hearing, and the court has approved this request, instructing the Philippine National Police to bring Guo to the Senate on the designated date.
