Brazil.- Sportradar conducted an integrity workshop for the professional male team of Club Atlético Mineiro. The goal of the initiative is to protect Brazilian football against match-fixing. Thus, players and technical staff participated to learn how to identify and avoid these harmful practices for the sport.
Felippe Marchetti, Integrity Partnerships Manager at Sportradar in Brazil, highlighted the importance of being aware of the problem: "The methods to manipulate results are becoming more sophisticated. Therefore, it is essential that everyone involved in the sport is prepared to recognize and report this practice."
Responsible for the company's integrity training in the country, Marchetti commented: "Information is one of the most powerful tools we have to combat this crime. Moreover, it was very gratifying to see the interest of Atlético players during the presentation. Education and awareness are crucial so that together we can address this issue and protect football."
During the workshop, players received information about real cases that illustrate the risks and consequences of match-fixing. The company also explains how it uses advanced technologies and detailed analysis to monitor sports competitions.
"It is very important that the club works with the athletes to raise awareness about this issue. Periodically, we show the risks and ways to address them, in order to double their attention. We also make our legal department available to work together with the football department, to take all precautions and prevent us from suffering damage," said the football director, Victor Bagy.
