The idea is to gather more information to develop public policies to address the issue.

Argentina.- At the end of August, the government of the Province of Santa Fe announced the conduct of surveys in educational institutions in the province to ask teenagers what they know about betting, how much time they spend on it in their daily lives, and whether they discuss it with their family members.

The surveys aim to diagnose the current situation and start developing strategies to address the issue from the Ministry itself, schools, and families. The Santa Fe Ministry of Education wants to provide tools for schools and believes that the family plays a fundamental role in this task.

Now, the Santa Fe government explained that the surveys will be conducted in 400 schools in the province, to achieve a more comprehensive analysis of the situation. "The survey will allow us to have an accurate diagnosis of the relationship that teenagers have with online gaming, and the compulsive gaming that is becoming a problematic consumption affecting learning in the classrooms," said the Secretary of Territorial Management, Daiana Gallo Ambrosis, and added: "Principals and teachers ask us to talk about the issue and it is essential to involve families in the actions we carry forward."

The work carried out by the Ministry of Education is not intended to be solely quantitative regarding betting sites, online games, or applications, but also aims to measure the impact they have on changing habits and behaviors and consequently influencing learning processes.

It is worth noting that for this activity, work was coordinated in an interministerial table with the Ministry of Equality and Human Development, the Ministry of Health, Lotería de Santa Fe, and the Pediatric Association, among others, and inquiries about preferences in the use of free time by students, the time allocated to the use of cell phones and technological devices, their knowledge about gambling addiction, the connection with money in these types of games, and what these online games provide them, among other topics.
