A new project fully funded by EveryMatrix aimed at helping war veterans in Ukraine transition to developing new careers in technology has been launched in Lviv. The Academy will organize courses designed by leading industry experts in IT, enabling former military personnel to acquire the knowledge and skills needed for successful IT careers.

The NGO, titled ‘Academy for Heroes’, is led by EveryMatrix and was inspired by its more than 300 employees based in Lviv, Ukraine, some of whom are fighting in the war.

There are hundreds of thousands of fighters in Ukraine, a number that increases every day. After their return from war, sometimes with severe injuries, many need social adaptation and work that can provide a more certain future.

The Academy will organize courses designed by leading industry experts in IT, enabling former military personnel to acquire the knowledge and skills needed for successful IT careers.

In addition to its main goal of equipping veterans with IT skills, it also aims to help them successfully integrate into the current job market. EveryMatrix and several other local IT companies will be involved in employing veterans after they complete the courses.

Ebbe Groes, CEO of the Group and co-founder of EveryMatrix, said: “Our office in Lviv is essential to our ongoing success and growth. Since the country went through conflicts, we have supported our friends and colleagues, as well as charities, with much-needed funds, committing more than €2 million so far, and we will continue to help them."

Now, we are taking a step further by creating our second corporate NGO to ensure that veterans receive the training and skills they need to return to work and develop successful careers in technology."

The IT sector is one of the strongest parts of the Ukrainian economy, recognized worldwide for its technical skills. I hope many will join us or join other IT companies, giving them hope and a more certain future for themselves and their families.”

Professor Oleksiy Druhov, CEO of the Academy for Heroes, said: “This is the only project of its kind in continuous operation in Ukraine for military veterans. Our goal is to teach four groups of veterans every year."

Each group will have its own specialization, such as Project Management, Quality Assurance, and Full Stack, to name just a few areas. We closely monitor the Ukrainian IT market and train only the necessary specializations.

All participants will undergo internships at EveryMatrix and other leading IT companies in Ukraine during their studies and will have the best teachers in the IT industry. We are also planning to open a specialized and inclusive training center by the end of 2024.”

This is the second fully funded NGO that EveryMatrix has started. In 2015, the iGaming technology provider established TeachStream, providing much-needed funds and resources for underprivileged children in Romania who otherwise would never have the opportunity to develop skills in IT, computer science, mathematics, and English.
