With specialists working in the fields of psychology, communication, organizational management, and compliance in the gaming industry, the Brazilian Company for Support to the Compulsive (EBAC) seeks to implement the 'Compulsafe' seal in betting companies approved by the Ministry of Finance. Thus, it will certify that the company complies with all controls determined by the ordinance published by the Secretariat of Prizes and Bets (SPA).
The EBAC is developing a seal for online betting houses that meet requirements established by the Ministry of Finance to mitigate gambling addiction. The idea of the feature is to clarify which companies are in compliance with all the controls determined by the Finance and are capable of detecting and assisting bettors prone to addiction.
The ministry has established that each online betting company must have its own Responsible Gaming policy and is required to implement parameters and systems for tracking problematic players. Gambling addiction already affects the lives of more than 2 million Brazilians, according to a study conducted by the University of São Paulo (USP).
With the deadline for regulation approaching (Jan/2025), sports betting companies will have to offer support and reception to their customers.
“It is a serious problem, which already occurs in other countries and, now with the gaming market expanding here, it also reaches Brazil. But, like other behavioral disorders, there is a solution with the help and monitoring of specialists and professionals from various fields”, highlights Ricardo Magri, CCO of EBAC.
"The EBAC is prepared to act in the sector and assist companies in providing the best service to their users who need support, as well as designing and implementing the best control structure to manage this risk”, adds the executive.

It will use its own methodology for verifying control environments, and also demonstrating that it is capable of detecting and managing bettors with an unfavorable profile for gambling disorder.

Another important point involves the mandatory creation of devices that the bettor himself can activate, such as loss limits, playing time, or even a request for temporary or definitive suspension. In all these cases, bettors will be referred by the Customer Service of the betting company and go through the professional referral process.
