It is reported that Anutin, the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior of Thailand, as well as the leader of the Bhumjaithai Party, revealed in an interview with the media about the progress of the cannabis legalization policy, stating that it is just waiting for the policy to be reported to Prime Minister Prayut, and the Bhumjaithai Party has already requested the Prime Minister to consider cannabis legislation and strict control of its medical use.
Due to previous opposition, when asked if the proposal had the support of other coalition parties, Anutin said that former Prime Minister Srettha had already discussed this matter with the Thai Ministry of Health and other relevant departments during his tenure, which is equivalent to the introduction of legal control. Regarding the policy of the Entertainment Complex aimed at stimulating the economy, he stated that everything would proceed according to the law.
Anutin mentioned that some amendments are still needed concerning the legal aspects of the Entertainment Complex, and he expressed his approval, as this move could attract tourists, generate income, and create job opportunities. However, it is still necessary to study how to maximize benefits for the Thai people, and there are still issues with land use zoning that need to be discussed and resolved.
Regarding the previous opposition by the Bhumjaithai Party to legal casinos (included in the Entertainment Complex), Anutin stated that if the project includes food courts, hotels, and amusement parks, it should not focus solely on casinos.
When asked if the Bhumjaithai Party would support the project if the policy is appropriate, Anutin said that the coalition government consists of 5-6 parties, which should support each other; otherwise, when it comes to their own party's policies, they would face opposition, which would not benefit the country or the people.
