China, Laos, Myanmar, and Thailand held an informal meeting in Chiang Mai, Thailand, to discuss cross-border crime issues.
Security is the prerequisite and foundation for the development of all countries. The current regional security situation is complex and evolving, with persistent cross-border crimes such as online gambling fraud, endangering the safety of people's lives and property, and affecting social stability and national image.
Only by increasing joint efforts can the high incidence of illegal and criminal activities be effectively reversed. President Xi Jinping's Global Security Initiative has received active responses from countries including Laos, Myanmar, and Thailand. The four countries have jointly carried out a series of actions against cross-border crime on the basis of mutual respect for sovereignty.
The four parties unanimously agreed to strengthen cooperation, closely coordinate, and intensify efforts to combat online gambling fraud, drug trafficking, human trafficking, and other cross-border crimes, jointly maintaining regional peace and tranquility.
