Jansen's speech began with a review of his experiences during his tenure at the Dutch Gambling Authority (KSA) and the actions taken during his time at the organization, then introduced the current state of the online gambling market, responsible gambling, and other topics to the providers.

In his speech, the outgoing chairman reviewed the initial introduction of the Remote Gambling Act and noted that with the continuous growth of the Dutch market, there are currently 29 licensed online gambling operators in the Netherlands, and the industry's need for responsibility is also increasing.

Regarding responsible gambling, KSA released a revised version of the responsible gambling policy rules this week. Jansen emphasized that he was "very proud" that all the rules were formulated in such a short time and that they "comply with the scope of current legislation."

It was announced in the speech that KSA will set up a temporary online duty of care department, which will start operating in September, mainly responsible for supervising the legal regulations related to the new policy rules, as well as the supervision of operators' duty of care.

Since July 2023, non-targeted advertising has been banned in the Netherlands, Jansen emphasized that "the ban on non-targeted advertising caused a lot of controversy when it took effect, and if I said it did not cause us problems as a regulatory body, I would be lying," but he mentioned how KSA will strive to give people the opportunity to exclude themselves from gambling advertisements.

After the summer sports events such as the 2024 European Championship, Olympics, and Tour de France, Jansen warned the providers when talking about advertising: "I warn you again, choose moderation rather than pushing boundaries. For such a strictly scrutinized gambling market, I think it's crucial that everyone shows their best side."

He also explained that in the coming months, KSA will launch a campaign to help consumers, especially young people, resist the "gambling temptations" they may encounter in the summer.

At the end of his speech, Jansen stated that he would closely monitor the channelization rate and do his best to address the increase of illegal products in the Dutch market.

At the end of his speech, Jansen emphasized the importance of players and stated that "caring for players is always the top priority!" and urged attendees to ensure that measures are taken to prevent gambling problems.
