Recently appointed at the National Secretariat for Sports Betting and Economic Development of Sport of the Ministry of Sports, Giovanni Rocco Neto received in Brasília, on Tuesday (10), the president of the National Association of Games and Lotteries (ANJL), Plínio Lemos Jorge. The agenda included one of the important topics for the sector, the manipulation of sports betting results.
In the meeting, Plínio and Giovanni aligned the next steps for the construction of a cooperation agreement between the ANJL and the Secretariat for the prevention and combat of fraud in sports events in the country. The president of the association emphasized that, besides the honest bettors who are harmed, the betting houses are the main victims of these manipulation schemes.
“Since its creation, the ANJL has reiterated the importance of integrity in the betting market and in sports. We brought this message to Secretary Giovanni Rocco, who also understands that it is necessary to expurgate, once and for all, these criminal actions. We want to work collaboratively with the Ministry of Sports so that, once any suspicions are identified, we can act swiftly and effectively to combat this evil,” said Plínio.
Other topics discussed at the meeting were the potentials of the betting market in Brazil and the process of regulating the sector, still underway. Just as has already been done with the Secretariat of Prizes and Bets (SPA), of the Ministry of Finance, Plínio highlighted that the ANJL is available to contribute to discussions and proposals for the benefit of the sector, the bettors, and Brazilian sports.
Launched in March 2023, the National Association of Games and Lotteries defends the interests of its members, the sector, and responsible and integral gaming, always guided by the encouragement of sports, the safety of bets, and the contribution to the economic development of the country.
Among the members are galera.bet/Playtech, Big Brazil, F12, PagBet, Betnacional, Mr. Jack, Parimatch, BetFast, Aposta Ganha, Liderança Capitalização, Z.ro Bank, Propane, Paag, Clear Sale, BetBox tv, StarsPay, WEpayments, 1xBet, and PG Soft.
