The initiative includes statements from the head of the SPA, Regis Dudena, and aims to provide information to the population.
Brazil.- The Ministry of Finance has launched a social media awareness campaign about the new rules for the sports betting market that will come into effect and will be monitored by the Secretariat of Prizes and Betting (SPA) on January 1, 2025. "It's more security and transparency for everyone!", reads the slogan of the initiative.
The ministry's communication department publishes interviews of Secretary Regis Dudena with Fantástico and Metrópoles from Rede Globo about the market regulation. In both reports, Dudena provides information on how the regulated Brazilian market will function and clears up doubts about what the ideal practices are. For this reason, the government department has chosen to give maximum dissemination to these statements so that they reach as many Brazilians as possible.
The posts with disclosures are accompanied by virtual brochures on regulatory topics such as "Attention! The rules of the game will change! Sports betting and online games must follow criteria that ensure safety and fairness for the bettor". Another reads: "Beware of exaggerated promises! Betting operators will be responsible for misleading and abusive advertising", "No dangerous advertising! The rules also limit campaigns that encourage addiction or harmful practices" and "Betting responsibly is key! Penalties include fines and even the suspension of the activities of operators who do not comply with the norms".
With this, the SPA seeks to instruct the population on how to proceed from the next January 1, when the adaptation period for operating companies provided in the Law 14.790 ends.
