Argentina.- The various Argentine lotteries grouped in the Association of Argentine State Lotteries (ALEA), propose the modification of the prize tax law. In this context, the authorities of the provincial entities participated in a virtual meeting to analyze the modification of the Law No. 20.630, regarding taxes on prizes.
The entity chaired by Ida López leads the proposal to carry out a change in the tax regime and for this reason, the meeting was held with the heads of the various provincial lotteries to discuss how to proceed in this regard.
The proposed modification consists of changing articles 4 and 5 of the mentioned law. Basically, the reform would involve raising the threshold currently set at AR$1,200 (USD 1.2) to five minimum vital and mobile wages, which today amounts to AR$1,171,575.60 (USD 1,223).
If this project is approved, prizes below this amount would not be subject to the tax. The planned updates for the amount that would be established - if the request is accepted - will be made automatically on June 30 and December 31 of each year, always in accordance with what is established by the National Council of Employment, Productivity and the Minimum, Vital and Mobile Wage.
