Major League Soccer has terminated its contract with Sporting Kansas City midfielder Felipe Hernandez following an investigation into his second violation of the league's gambling policy.
Hernandez was suspended in 2021 for violating the league's gambling policy and, after applying to the league's office, he will be eligible for reinstatement on January 1, 2026.
The league's investigation found no evidence that insider information was shared or that the integrity of any MLS matches was compromised.
In October 2021, Hernandez was suspended for betting on MLS games.
The Colombian-born midfielder, who has represented the United States in international competitions at the U-19 level, played six seasons for Sporting Kansas City. He scored 4 goals in 76 MLS matches.
Sporting Kansas City currently ranks 12th in the Western Conference with a record of 7 wins, 14 losses, and 7 draws, trailing the ninth-placed Minnesota United by 8 points.
