The National Capital Region Police Office (NCRPO) recently dismantled a fake document manufacturing den in Sampaloc, Manila.
Reports indicate that the den also produced fake IDs and passports for Chinese and Filipino workers in POGOs.
From the outside, the site appeared to be a photocopy service station, but inside, it housed equipment and tools for making fake IDs and documents.
During the raid, evidence such as IDs and documents from the Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA), Land Transportation Office (LTO), and even fake drug test negative reports were seized.
Some computers were also taken, containing documents of contractors working in POGOs.
The Capital Region Police Office mentioned that they started investigating after finding suspicious Chinese passports from a cyber fraud group in Barangay Jade last month.
Major General Fuscí Renato Nadatiz of the NCRPO said, "It was a bit hard to find. They keep moving, and the transactions involved three different people."
Since the local POGOs can only operate until December this year, NCRPO suspects that the Chinese in gambling companies are now busy making Philippine passports to stay in the Philippines.
Nadatiz stated, "What they need for traveling, to travel unnoticed, is to be able to present these documents, especially passports."
Six individuals were arrested at the site and will be charged with forging public documents.
According to them, some Filipinos are helping Chinese obtain fake Philippine passports.
