XSA Sports is a well-established provider of sports betting and iGaming platforms in Brazil. In a strategic move, it now also positions itself as an operator, having applied for a license with the Ministry of Finance under the brand LOGAME. CEO Jarbson Santana spoke exclusively with GMB and stated that this new development will provide opportunities for small entrepreneurs to operate in a regulated manner starting January 1, 2025.
Games Magazine Brasil – You applied for a license, which is the big news from XSA Sports, now becoming a sports betting operator. Could you talk a little about this new phase for XSA?
Jarbson Santana –
It's a very important moment for Brazil, for the entire iGaming market, and for XSA Sports. The Brazilian industry is well-positioned globally, and regulation was essential. I believe this was expected over the last few years, and we have been closely monitoring the topic. The change was necessary, and XSA, as a consolidated company in selling sports platforms, needed to offer a new alternative for the market, bringing to small entrepreneurs and betting houses a solution to operate in the legalized market.
We couldn't leave this market out and created a new project, LOGAME of Brazil, which is already starting its operation and we will come with many fantastic novelties for the folks operating in the industry.
So, a platform provider that saw how to save small operations. Will this be a point of no return in the regulated Brazilian market?
I don't believe it's a point of no return. It's a path that needs to be followed. In various countries, the grey market, after regulation, encountered a new structure, both for bettors and operators. And this is fundamental. We have to go and we cannot go alone, but rather taking along all those who supported and invested in the market so that they are not left out of the operation. To not only favor the large operators. We need to provide opportunities for small entrepreneurs. XSA has always seen it this way.
Is the XSA platform fully certified and ready for the new regulated market?
Yes. We are with GLI and Global Labs, certifiers that attest our tool. We also have security certificates with Network Securities. And we cannot fail to mention our partnership with Genius Sports, the main provider of odds. This, for the market, is a significant differential.
LOGAME submitted more than a hundred documents to the Secretariat of Prizes and Bets. Are you optimistic about a quick approval of the company's request?
100% optimistic. We have been prepared for this process for over a year. For us, it was not a surprise. We believe that being among the 113 companies that submitted an application within the correct timeframe is a major differential.
What will the regulated market look like starting January 1, 2025?
It will come with many surprises and Brazil is waiting for it. There are some points that need to be worked on and this was discussed in the panels. There is still a cultural issue, as iGaming operators from now on become entrepreneurs recognized as tax contributors and for economic development. They will have to implement an entire process of culture in the face of this new reality. We ourselves are doing certification and training work with the operators so that we arrive in January and do not have so many impacts. Our expectation is positive and we believe that the market will transform. We are optimistic.
