The President of the Ghana Football Association (GFA), Mr. Kurt Edwin Simeon Okraku, has launched a robust campaign against illegal betting activity associated with the Ghana Premier League, the country’s flagship football competition.

Okraku made it unequivocally clear that currently, there are no licensed betting operators authorized to accept wagers on Ghana’s football matches. He vowed to pursue legal action against any betting firms that defy this stipulation.

While addressing participants at the GFA’s 30th Ordinary Congress, Okraku acknowledged the essential role betting companies play globally in the evolution of football. However, he expressed outrage over the unauthorized operations of these betting agencies targeting Ghanaian football.

“There is no betting company in Ghana that has received a license from the GFA to accept bets on our games. We are mobilizing our legal team to tackle this issue vigorously,” he stated.

“The time for action is now, and it is vital that we respect the boundaries within our football community. The ongoing exploitation of our sport by unlicensed betting companies cannot continue unchallenged,” he added. Ghana Premier League Illegal Betting

“While we are saying ‘no’ to illegal activities, we are also prepared to discuss opportunities with genuine betting firms, inviting them to engage with us as partners in this venture,” he concluded.
