According to sources in Myawaddy, Myanmar, some staff are being relocated from the scam center in Myawaddy to a new center near the Three Pagodas Pass in southern Karen State, which crosses the border between Sangkhla Buri in northern Thailand and Payathonzu town in Karen State.
Residents of Payathonzu town say that the area is predominantly Chinese, not "piglets" but operators and managers of casinos. The scam centers and casinos in Payathonzu have now surpassed those in Myawaddy in size and are rapidly expanding.
The town is controlled by the Democratic Karen Buddhist Army, which was formerly part of the Karen National Union but later became independent. Colonel Soe Chit's troops are strengthening their control over the area and enhancing cooperation with the Democratic Karen Buddhist Army.
According to Myanmar media, since April, a large number of Chinese scam center operators and casino managers have flooded into the town, causing rents to more than double. The current notices are in both Chinese and Burmese, and the land on the hills around the town has been snapped up.
Operators of Chinese scam centers hire security personnel from the Democratic Karen Buddhist Army and Colonel Soe Chit's troops.
These Chinese criminals mostly hold foreign passports. They openly carry weapons in the town.
Due to the deeper friendship established between the Democratic Karen Buddhist Army and the Chinese community, more and more scam groups are appearing within the army's territory, and more non-Chinese human trafficking victims are being brought here.
This new scam center is called Payathonzu town.
In April this year, the Karen National Union briefly entered Myawaddy city, and Colonel Soe Chit's troops also took the opportunity to enter the town, with Colonel Soe Chit's territory near the water ditch valley in Myawaddy.
Colonel Soe Chit, for his business empire, intervened in the conflict between the Myanmar military and the Karen National Union, and is associated with at least 20 scam groups.
Reports indicate that last year, the scam center in the water ditch valley generated revenues of up to 15.3 billion US dollars. The valley employed or enslaved over 130,000 people.
From this year to now, 100 million US dollars have been tracked entering the KK Park in Myawaddy.
