This is an initiative by Buenos Aires deputy Diego Garciarena, president of the UCR+ Cambio Federal Block.
Argentina.- Both in the National Congress and in the provincial Legislatures, efforts continue to find ways to prevent minors from accessing online betting, which is illegal throughout the Argentine territory.
In this regard, Diego Garciarena, president of the Buenos Aires deputies block of the UCR + Cambio Federal, presented a project to modify Law No. 15.079 "Title VIII Online Gaming Regulation", focusing on adding biometric controls for identity validation when becoming users on these platforms, along with a greater advertising restriction.
"It's not that we lack policies or legal-normative complexes regarding the issue: the policies are failing, generating a bureaucratic and declarative Russian roulette, and with it, violating the guarantees of protection of our children and adolescents," argued the deputy.
And he added: "Advertisements for gaming platforms remain active, there are no effective biometric access control requirements by age, licenses continue to be granted, and the proliferation of illegal betting sites is not consistently addressed."
Within the advertising restrictions, the participation of "prominent personalities from the fields of knowledge, entertainment, arts, or sports in the dissemination of online betting games, in any of its forms" is prohibited.

It is worth remembering that last month a new similar project by the Renewal Front in the Province of Buenos Aires was added. The initiative by legislator Rubén Eslaiman proposes that online gaming licensee companies prevent minors from registering, incorporating facial recognition as a security measure to validate the true identity of the bettor.
