The Court of Rio de Janeiro has ordered that the player Neymar, content creator Felipe Neto, and other influencers disclose their contracts with the betting house Blaze, in a decision by the 5th Civil Court of the Leopoldina Region. The summoned will have 15 days to present the documentation.
The lawsuit was filed by Erick Paiva, a man who lost his savings, R$ 62,000, after betting on the platform motivated by videos of influencers who, according to him, promoted the illusion of easy gains. He claims that the videos showed training accounts and not the real ones, which led him to believe in false promises of profit.
Erick also claims that he was able to use this demonstration platform, turning 1,000 fictitious euros into more than one million, which reinforced his sense of confidence. His lawyers state that the influencers used their image to convey a sense of reliability and security, attaching as evidence screenshots of the publications from Neymar, Felipe Neto, and others.
The Court granted a period of 15 days for the contracts to be presented, but denied, for now, the display of the digital account statements of the influencers. Erick, who requested judicial free pass, also seeks compensation of R$ 1 million. So far, Neymar and Felipe Neto have not commented on the decision.
Concurrently, Blaze has already faced other investigations. Last year, the Court of São Paulo blocked R$ 101 million from the company after allegations that high prizes were not paid to bettors, raising suspicions of fraud. Blaze was also the target of a judicial order to take down its website, but the decision was not complied with, since the company does not have a headquarters or legal representatives in Brazil.
