Advances in negotiations are expected today to resolve the situation.
Argentina.- Due to the delay in the payment of prizes and building deteriorations such as the need to change the fences, repair of lighting, maintenance of the tracks, and increase of the prizes, the Association that groups jockeys and caretakers from La Plata announced a protest measure. This situation jeopardizes the two meetings scheduled for this week (today and next Thursday the 19th) at the racecourse of that city.
On September 10, these requests were sent to the Racecourse Administration whose response arrived the next day. The current administrator pointed out that until August 27, the prizes corresponding to the meeting of July 30 had been paid. Subsequently, a breakdown left the chromatograph out of operation, preventing the performance of analyses for the following meetings. Additionally, the administrator committed to obtaining the results of one meeting every three days once the problem is resolved.
However, the response did not satisfy the Unified Association, who decided to carry out the protest.
Despite the announced measure, the meeting scheduled for today is still on, with 11 races planned between 1 PM and 6 PM. Negotiations continue and a final decision is expected around noon.
For several months, the Provincial Institute of Lotteries and Casinos (IPLyC Buenos Aires) has been working, along with the Hipódromo de La Plata, to establish it as a new cultural venue, with a program of meetings and concerts appealing to the youth and families of Buenos Aires.
