The Philippine Anti-Organized Crime Commission (PAOCC) recently confirmed that the big boss of illegal Philippine Offshore Gaming Operators (POGO), Huang Zhiyang, is now in Hong Kong.
"Huang Zhiyang is now in Hong Kong, this has been confirmed, madam," PAOCC Deputy Minister Gilbert Cruz told Senator Risa Hontiveros, who chaired the Senate hearing on Women, Children, Family Relations and Gender Equality.
Other foreigners allegedly involved in the removal of Tarlac City Mayor Guo Huaping and linked to offshore gaming operators are hiding abroad. Cruz mentioned that this includes Duanren Wu and Zhang Jie, who are respectively in Indonesia and Singapore.
As for the whereabouts of Guo Huaping's brother Wesley Guo, PAOCC officials stated that they are still verifying whether he is in Hong Kong.
When Hontiveros asked if Wesley had any "connections" with Huang Zhiyang in the Chinese Special Administrative Region, PAOCC officials said, "We are trying to verify the information about Wesley Guo in Hong Kong."
Meanwhile, Cassandra Li Ong, the authorized representative of Lucky South 99 POGO company, stated that she also does not know if her "boyfriend" Wesley has met with Huang Zhiyang, as she does not know Wesley's current whereabouts.
"My phone is currently with the National Bureau of Investigation, so we have no contact. I have a new phone, but no contacts."
Senate Acting President Jinggoy Estrada questioned Ong about her lack of concern for her boyfriend's whereabouts or his safety, but Ong said she does not know Wesley's phone number.
Ong also denied knowing someone associated with Lucky South 99 and Whirlwind Corporation—Mr. Xiaolong.
Whirlwind Corporation is the company that rented its property in Barangay Porac, Pampanga to the Lucky South 99 POGO center.
The person we are accusing is Mr. Xiaolong, who is actually one of the persons of interest at Lucky South 99. He is one of the individuals we tracked and arrested in Lapu-Lapu City.
Earlier, authorities found about 150 foreigners in a private compound in Lapu-Lapu City, Cebu, including individuals believed to be members of a POGO center in Pampanga province, which was raided for alleged illegal activities.
The authorities stated that these foreigners are from China, Indonesia, and Myanmar. The Indonesians who escaped the compound alerted the Philippine Embassy, which then reported to the local authorities, leading to their discovery.
