Both entities signed an agreement to establish cooperation ties.

Argentina.- The Association of State Lotteries Argentina (ALEA) signed a collaboration agreement with the Secretary of Comprehensive Drug Policies of the Nation Argentina (SEDRONAR) to coordinate actions aimed at promoting care, prevention, and assistance in the field of problematic consumption and behavioral addictions.

The agreement was signed by the president of ALEA, Ida López, and the secretary of SEDRONAR, Roberto Esteban Moro, with the presence of Jorge Manzo, President of the Lottery for Social Action Works of the province of Rio Negro.

About the agreement Ida López said: "The idea of the agreement is to generate joint actions and exchange information to be able to carry out training, awareness, and prevention campaigns of pathological gambling as one of the behavioral addictions originated by gambling."

This action is added to a comprehensive campaign carried out by ALEA to prevent pathological and illegal gambling from various institutions such as the Central Bank of the Republic of Argentina, participations in informative meetings on the subject in the Chamber of Deputies of the Nation and national media campaigns.

In addition to reaffirming its commitment against problematic gambling, ALEA is also working on amendments to Law No. 20.630, on taxes on prizes. For this reason, last week the authorities of the provincial entities participated in a virtual meeting to analyze the modification of said norm.

The entity chaired by Ida López leads the proposal to carry forward a change in the tax regime and for this reason, progress was made in holding this meeting with the heads of the various provincial lotteries in order to make a common assessment on how to move forward in this regard.

The proposed modification consists of changing articles 4 and 5 of the aforementioned law. Basically, the reform would consist of increasing the threshold established today at AR$1,200 (USD1.2) to five minimum vital and mobile wages, which today amounts to a sum of AR$1,171,575.60 (USD1,223).
