A study conducted by UNAD aimed to determine how they behave towards other age groups and how gender influences their choices.
Spain.- The Addiction Care Network (UNAD) in Bilbao developed a study on the preferences of young people when it comes to betting. The goal is to improve preventive policies aimed at this population and understand current behaviors.
The research, led by Patricia Martínez Redondo, highlighted several factors that contribute to the development of problematic gambling behaviors: impulsivity, which is common in youth, and easy access to online games. In turn, the exciting emotions generated by gambling are a key factor that attracts both genders.
Another conclusion of the study is that males are more inclined towards sports betting, while females prefer bingo and other gambling games.

The study also points out that the social environment and peer pressure play an important role, especially among boys, who see betting as a form of social entertainment. Additionally, the growing normalization of gambling among young people, driven by advertising strategies and public figures, has contributed to a lower perception of risk.
Although both genders recognize the stigma associated with women with gambling problems, girls tend to show more empathy towards those who suffer from it.
