On September 21st local time, in Pasay City, Philippines, a collision occurred on the service road of Roxas Blvd heading towards the World Trade Center, leading to a shootout between two vehicles.
The police stated that at the time, a Honda Odyssey SUV collided with a BMW traveling in the same direction. It is unclear whether there had been a prior traffic accident or non-yielding behavior between the two vehicles.
As there were motorcycle police patrolling the area at the time, they immediately called for backup from the nearby Pasay City Police Station Precinct 1 and the Pasay City Police SWAT team. Subsequently, the arriving officers arrested two Chinese nationals and one Filipino, and transferred them to a nearby police station.
The arrested suspects are 40-year-old Xiao Lei (transliterated), 31-year-old Wang, and 39-year-old Filipino driver Redentor.
The remaining passengers or drivers of the two vehicles fled the scene. Among them, an armed Chinese national stopped a passerby riding an electric bicycle, pointed a gun at his face, and forcibly took the electric bicycle before fleeing. However, this Chinese suspect was soon arrested in the Tambô community of Parañaque City. The two suspects were found with firearms, knives, luxury goods, IDs, and vehicle plates at the scene.
The police stated that the arrested suspects will undergo a thorough investigation, including whether they have gun permits and whether their firearms are registered with the police firearms and explosives office; charges of vehicle theft will also be brought against the suspect who robbed the electric bicycle, along with claims for damages caused by their actions. The search continues for other passengers inside the two involved vehicles.
