The gambling harm prevention organization BetBlocker has released the latest update of its blocking software in the form of a Portuguese version application.
The software provides free and anonymous support tools for any players who may be troubled by gambling problems, and has now launched a Portuguese version - BetBlocker hopes to attract over 200 million Portuguese-speaking users worldwide.
This summer has been a busy one for BetBlocker, with the company reaching data-based and responsible gambling partnerships with Blask and Stake in June, and with Casino.Guru in July. However, the charity recently received a commitment of support from Aristocrat.
BetBlocker founder and director Duncan Garvie commented on this latest update, saying: "BetBlocker is the only free and anonymous use blocking software. Users can be blocked in less than two minutes from downloading, provided they understand the setup instructions.
"The fact is, most people who need BetBlocker's support are in a crisis. They cannot think clearly and try to set up tools like BetBlocker, which they cannot understand or only partially understand the instructions, which poses a significant barrier to getting support. Every time we launch a new language version of BetBlocker, we see a 4-10 times increase in user engagement for that language."
The release of the Portuguese version of the BetBlocker blocking software is timely, as it was launched a few months before the opening of the online gaming and sports betting market in Brazil, allowing the software to be available to Brazil's 212.6 million Portuguese speakers.
