The new standard emphasizes the combat against illegal betting platforms and establishes new control mechanisms for their operation.
Argentina.- The Legislature of the province of La Rioja approved the Law for the Prevention and Treatment of Youth Gambling Addiction, which creates a comprehensive legal framework for the prevention and treatment of problematic gambling in the younger population.
“The first thing the law does is establish a series of requirements that companies obtaining gaming licenses must comply with. Among these requirements are effective controls of biometric data. We also have a system prepared to identify child support debtors and prohibit them from linking to these online platforms,” explained legislator Lourdes Ortiz about the new regulations.
In the same way, the law regulates deceptive and unlimited advertising of various internet sites that seek to encourage the youngest to spend money on these platforms, without any regulation. “There is a lot of advertising that gambling and betting will solve our financial issues, which is absolutely false,” she added in this regard.
It should be noted that the sanctioned law also stipulates that the internet distribution company of the province of La Rioja “block or cancel all types of betting platforms, gaming, online betting in public spaces, for example, in schools, in squares, in parks, and in institutions”, to regulate their use in places frequented by young people.

According to comments by the vice governor Teresita Madera, the law emerged from the interdisciplinary and interrelated work of various state agencies that worked together to shape the new standard: “We have worked together with various organizations to design a solid and effective law,” she highlighted.
