The Bureau of Immigration (BI) of the Philippines announced on September 26 that a Chinese fugitive wanted for kidnapping was arrested in Parañaque City. The man, 37-year-old Hu Yang, is one of the most wanted fugitives by the Chinese police.
According to the acting commissioner of the Bureau, Joel Anthony Viado, Hu Yang was arrested on September 23 in Barangay Tambo, Parañaque City. The arrest was the result of a joint operation by the Fugitive Search Unit (FSU) of the Bureau of Immigration, the Parañaque City Police, and Chinese authorities.
Viado stated in his announcement: "This arrest is a significant breakthrough in our efforts to combat international criminals hiding in the Philippines. We will continue to strengthen cooperation with international law enforcement agencies to ensure that these criminals have nowhere to hide and are held accountable for their crimes."
According to notifications from Chinese authorities, Hu Yang's passport has been revoked, and he is a member of a criminal gang wanted by the Jinjiang City Public Security Bureau, involved in a vicious kidnapping case. The gang Hu Yang was involved with is known for kidnapping, torturing, and killing victims. Earlier this year, several members of this gang were arrested in Manila and Pampanga Province.
Hu Yang has now been handed over to the Philippine National Police (PNP), as he faces other criminal charges in the Philippines.
