Philippine Senator Ejercito stated that former Banban city mayor Alice Guo, after exposing high-level individuals involved in illegal gambling (POGO) operations, might have the opportunity to become a state witness.
Ejercito noted that if Guo is willing to fully cooperate and reveal more about the illegal gambling operations, she could potentially serve as a national witness to help the government combat this illegal activity.
Senate Majority Leader Francis Tolentino mentioned that Guo might disclose further details about the illegal gambling operations in the next Senate administrative meeting. In an interview, he mentioned that the Senate's investigation into Guo has made progress, although he did not reveal specifics, he emphasized that the information Guo provided in the meeting shows her respect for the Senate.
Tolentino also mentioned that the harsh conditions Guo faces in detention might prompt her to disclose more information. It is reported that due to poor prison conditions, she had to sleep on a plank last night, and her health is a concern. Tolentino believes that this physical and psychological pressure might prompt her to reveal previously undisclosed details. He promised that the Senate would respect Guo's rights during the administrative meeting and ensure that the discussion remains confidential.
When asked if Guo was abandoned by her accomplices, Tolentino said it was not appropriate to judge and noted that future hearings might reveal more about the situation.
