According to Thai media, under the chairmanship of the Royal Thai Police Commission, a key witness hearing involving 18 grey businesses related to gambling websites took place at the office of the Police Director on Ramintra Road, Bangkok.
The central figure of this hearing was Mrs. Kook Kai (Nipaphan Sukwimon), the wife of General Big Tor (Torsak Sukwimon), a high-ranking Thai police officer. She provided crucial evidence regarding the involvement of Silver Line in the gambling websites.
As revealed by the police, Mrs. Kook Kai's testimony is part of an in-depth investigation into financial leads recently discovered related to online gambling sites. The case involves 18 companies accused of engaging in illegal gambling activities, and the police are prepared to issue subpoenas to another 4-5 suspects.
Major General Sorasak Yenprem and Major General Rewat Klinkasorn from the Royal Thai Police Commission personally participated in the questioning process of the witness.
Additionally, Mr. Sitra Biabangkerd, the Secretary-General of the Public Attorney's Team Foundation, also participated as a legal advisor in the investigation to ensure fairness and transparency of the process.
Major General Sorasak stated that although the committee had received a written explanation from Mrs. Kook Kai the previous day, face-to-face statements are crucial for a deeper understanding of the case details.
"Submitting a written explanation is the right of the witness, but appearing in person to explain will help us obtain more detailed information and directly answer all the questions of the committee," he emphasized.
Before the hearing began, Mrs. Kook Kai briefly responded to media questions, expressing confidence in her upcoming statement and promising to provide detailed explanations for each question. "We are well-prepared and confident in clarifying all doubts," she stated.
It is noteworthy that the previous absence of Police Lieutenant Colonel Surakun Thansiridamrong (Rong Fang) and Police Captain Apichart Suwanphet (Dab Yao), who were summoned but failed to attend the hearing, raised concerns. However, Major General Sorasak mentioned that their absence would not hinder the investigation as they had submitted written explanations. Still, he emphasized that personal attendance to provide detailed statements is crucial for a comprehensive review of the case.
