The Brazilian Institute of Responsible Gaming (IBJR), an entity that brings together the main operators in the gaming and betting sector in Brazil, reinforces its commitment to transparency, responsibility, and regulatory compliance in all its operations. The entity reports that it is already formalizing requests for meetings with government bodies to mitigate the possible adverse effects of gaming and betting activities in Brazil.
All members of the IBJR, representing approximately 70% of the betting market in Brazil, have formally submitted their licensing applications, demonstrating full alignment with legal requirements and a firm purpose to operate within a properly regulated environment.
In line with these principles and with a focus on promoting safer practices, the operators affiliated with the IBJR, in dialogue with the Ministry of Finance, have made the voluntary decision to ban the use of credit cards as a payment method on their platforms.
It is worth noting that, although this modality represents only about 0.5% of the deposits made by customers, the measure aims to mitigate financial risks and reinforce a more responsible and protected experience for users.
The IBJR firmly believes that regulation is the most efficient and necessary path to address these challenges, ensuring the protection of consumers and the State. As the main association in the sector, we are fully willing to contribute with solutions that meet both the concerns of the government and the demands of society.
In this sense, the IBJR is formalizing requests for meetings with government bodies such as the Ministry of Development, Industry and Commerce, the Central Bank, the Ministry of Health, and the Ministry of Social Development so that we can discuss, collaboratively, effective measures to mitigate the possible adverse effects of gaming and betting activities in Brazil, as well as to clarify important aspects and data for a better understanding of our market.
Our goal is to ensure that the sector is regulated in a fair and balanced manner, guaranteeing the protection of consumers and the integrity of the market, without compromising its development.
