Playtech and the University of Nevada, Las Vegas (UNLV) have announced a multi-year collaboration focused on leveraging technology development to create a sustainable gaming environment. The agreement provides for both to work together on various topics of shared interest, benefiting from the vast experience of the two organizations. In Brazil, the company owns the brand galera.bet, one of the most important betting houses in the country.

Founded in 1994, UNLV's IGI provides research-based solutions, cutting-edge insights, and executive education to the global gaming and betting industry. Initially, the main focus areas of this collaboration will be the use of Artificial Intelligence (AI) and machine learning to promote and support safer and more responsible gaming.

Playtech has committed to funding an IGI project that explores how AI can be used to train chatbots to encourage safer gambling behaviors among sports bettors. Additionally, Playtech supported an internship in the inaugural Gaming Manufacturing Internship Program at the IGI's Center for Gaming Innovation.

Kasra Ghaharian, research director at UNLV International Gaming Institute commented: "We are excited to collaborate with Playtech in advancing our research on responsible gaming. Their expertise in artificial intelligence and machine learning is crucial for promoting safer gambling behaviors among players worldwide.”

Playtech's dedication to reducing gambling-related harms aligns with our own goals of employing the most advanced methodologies to understand, predict, and prevent potential gambling harms. As responsible gaming becomes increasingly important in the US and around the world, our collaboration with Playtech is more vital than ever.”

Brett Abarbanel, executive director of the UNLV International Gaming Institute, associate professor, UNLV William F. Harrah College of Hospitality, said: “It is a joy to work with Playtech on many of the IGI's education, innovation, and research programs. Playtech is a global leader in gambling and betting, and together we will promote a stronger and more sustainable industry.”

Jonathan Doubilet, VP of US commercial operations at Playtech, stated: “We are very pleased to collaborate with the prestigious UNLV International Gaming Institute (IGI). Their expertise in the gambling and technology sector continues to generate powerful insights that benefit all stakeholders in advancing player protection.”

Supporting their cutting-edge research, to lead the way in developing innovative solutions to improve player protection and promote safer gambling behaviors, is a priority for us.”
