The municipality has proceeded with two legal filings against Germán García and Romina Uhrig. Both are connected to the local political power.
Argentina.- The Municipality of Moreno filed a complaint in the Correctional Courts of the Judicial Department of Moreno and General Rodríguez. They accuse the former participant of Big Brother 2022 edition, former national deputy, former secretary of Production of the municipality of Moreno, former pre-candidate for councilor 2021 and former partner of the former mayor Walter Festa, Romina Uhrig, and the influencer from Moreno, Germán García, of promoting online gambling and betting sites without authorization to operate. They request that in addition to a financial penalty, their profiles on social networks be blocked.
In the case of Germán García (@germancitoog on social networks), he is an alternate school counselor of Moreno. He participated in the 2023 elections within the local setup of La Libertad Avanza.
According to the complaint: "In this line of thought, Ms. Uhrig, Romina Maricel, using her status as a public figure, with more than 1.6 million followers on her social networks, has promoted online games on several occasions. Similarly, Mr. García, Germán, who has 314,000 followers on Instagram, 724,000 on TikTok, and 348,000 on YouTube, has been promoting and offering discounts to encourage and proliferate the use and consumption of these types of platforms."
Given the notoriety and public status that these types of acts have taken, materialized via social networks, the Secretary of Justice and Human Rights of the Municipality of Moreno was able to observe that the publications of these influencers have various particularities, in the case of both defendants, they are carried out daily through Instagram stories, which have a validity of 24 hours, unlike what happens when posting an image on the profile (feed).

Regarding Uhrig's advertisements in particular, the complaint highlights: "Something striking about this particular case is that it was not necessary for the 'influencer' to mention or make any direct reference to the promotion, with the mere use of the icon the followers can infer the product that is being promoted. This methodology denotes the clear connivance, regularity, and 'normality' with which the public figure promotes the use of these illegal pages."
"Another confluence between the accused refers to the fact that both share a link in their stories that automatically directs to the online gaming page, or alternatively, facilitates contact with 'cashiers' via WhatsApp," the document highlights.
