The Government of San Luis collaborates in the prevention of gambling addiction in children and adolescents.
Argentina.- With the aim of protecting students from gambling addiction and preventing its associated risks, the Government of San Luis decided to implement an internet block that prevents access to illegal betting sites while students are connected to school networks.
On Tuesday, October 1st, 25 internet companies from the province signed an agreement with the State to collaborate in the prevention of gambling addiction in children and adolescents. The companies, coming from the capital city, Villa Mercedes, Merlo, and other localities in the interior, committed to comply with the judicial dispositions issued by the authorities.

The agreement, which also has the support of the Ministry of Education and its main objective is to block access to platforms that promote illegal online gambling, a problem that affects both the psychological and social well-being of young people, and that directly interferes with their educational performance.
This agreement emphasizes that participation in unauthorized gambling sites increases the risk of fraud and money theft, as personal data can be exploited for criminal purposes. In addition, these platforms often allow the participation of minors and lack responsible gaming measures, which exacerbates the negative effects for users.
In case of detecting illegal gambling networks, citizens can make complaints through the internet or other channels.
From the General Directorate of Telecommunications, dependent on the Undersecretary of Educational Technology and Modernization of the Ministry of Education of the province of Neuquén, it was announced that at the end of September, the Nation proceeded to block 6,000 web pages in schools, which enable clandestine gambling, in which many cases involve students and minors.
According to reports from the government of the Patagonian province, the action was carried out through the technological floors – internal network distribution of internet service in schools – of around 600 educational establishments throughout the province.
