Reactions are pouring in from local casino owners following Thursday’s Iowa Racing and Gaming Commission meeting regarding a new casino in Cedar Rapids.
During the meeting, the Linn County Gaming Association formally presented its application for the Cedar Crossing Casino in Cedar Rapids.
The President and CEO of Q Casino in Dubuque, Alex Dixon, offered his thoughts on the development. Dixon said as part of their presentation to the commission, the Linn County Gaming Association highlighted the competitive gaming revenue landscape for Eastern Iowa casinos, including the Dubuque, Riverside and Waterloo markets.
Their study indicated that if Cedar Crossing Casino opens the Dubuque market, home to Diamond Jo Casino and Q Casino, could lose around $5 million of their $137 million revenue.
