Brazil.- The Parliamentary Commission of Inquiry (CPI) on Game Manipulation and Sports Betting of the Senate resumes today, Tuesday, October 8, its activities. The meeting will feature the testimony of sports executive William Rogatto, who is being investigated by the Public Ministry of the Federal District and the Federal Police on suspicion of fraud in matches of the Metropolitan Football Championship.
The parliamentarians will also need to hear the testimony of Dayana Nunes, president of the Santa Maria Sports Society, in the Federal District. The meeting is scheduled for 2:30 PM.
The summons of Rogatto was proposed by Senator Romário, the rapporteur of the Commission, who stated that the mentioned is suspected of “having operated secretly as a professional manipulator through the cooptation of players, the sale of rigged results, and the making of bets”.
The request for a hearing for Dayana Nunes was proposed by Senator Carlos Portinho. According to the Public Ministry, two athletes from Santa Maria are being investigated for acting “deliberately to manipulate the scores of the games of the 2024 Brasiliense Championship”.
