The entity made a judicial presentation to the provincial State Prosecutor's Office, waiting to proceed with the closure of these sites that operate mainly through social networks.
Argentina.- The leaders of the Chamber of Official Lottery Agents and Related Bonaerense (CAOLAB) filed a complaint in the State Prosecutor's Office of the Province of Buenos Aires in which they denounced 40 online sites that offer gambling outside the law.
"This issue not only affects legitimate interests and corresponding rights of our Province because it diverts to private hands for their own exclusive benefit funds constitutionally destined for social promotion, but it also generates uncertainty and insecurity among the different bettors due to the lack of legal support that guarantees safety and transparency to the people who participate in the activities proposed by these sites," states the complaint signed by the head of CAOLAB, Marcelo Iglesias.
Moreover, as highlighted by CAOLAB, the proliferation of these sites becomes a problem at times when the province of Buenos Aires is trying to combat problematic juvenile gambling. The entity points out that it is these clandestine platforms that threaten the younger population since it is there where they find the opportunity to gamble.
"The illegality within which those behind the web pages that circulate on the web and offer without official authorization various alternatives of gambling games, has already left the condition of clandestinity that characterized illegal gambling in its traditional way. Now unmasked and openly challenging the Law, they infringe without any regard the provisions of our Provincial Constitution, and those of art.301 bis of the Penal Code," says another point in the judicial presentation.
