Argentina.- From the Provincial Institute of Lotteries and Casinos (IPLyC Misiones) it was announced that they will suspend indefinitely the authorizations to carry out equestrian activities in Posadas.
The decision responds to the detection of events that presented irregularities and operated clandestinely. Additionally, it was announced that they will advance on different prevention mechanisms with the Municipality of Posadas and other agencies.
Interviewed by various local media, Héctor Rojas Decut, president of the IPLyC, referred to the various irregular situations that occurred last Sunday at the Challenger Cup under the organization of the Jockey Club and confirmed that the club’s authorization will be suspended.
“There were two very notable issues. The existence of totally illegal clandestine gambling and also the mistreatment of an animal that ends with the death of a mare. All this is under investigation”, the official explained.
In this regard, he announced that, following the death of a mare during a horse race, a fine of AR$20m (USD20,500) will be applied to the Jockey Club. “The level of cruelty they have promoted this weekend will not be tolerated. This cannot happen because it is something that generates public commotion,” said Rojas Decut.

The president of the Misiones gaming regulatory body told the media: “There are facts that force us to intervene. We are going to suspend the authorization that had this since it totally escapes the spirit that these activities have which are basically social, supportive” and added: “We will shed light on the whole situation that occurred and, surely, we will take other measures”.
In this sense, he recalled: “In 2022 a device was established where we tried to put order in these types of issues such as equestrian activity. The Jockey Club nor other entities were never authorized to participate with bets in the races”.
