The new agreement will take effect on July 1, 2027, and will continue until June 2037, marking a significant upgrade in the state's lottery technology and services.
Under the terms of the contract, IGT will implement its Aurora central system, a key component of the company's comprehensive lottery solution, Omnia. This advancement will be complemented by the deployment of the upgraded Wizard back-office business applications, aimed at enhancing the operational efficiency of the lottery.
The agreement also includes hardware upgrades, with IGT providing up to 8,500 new Retailer Pro S2 terminals, 28 self-service vending machines, 2,000 lottery game centers, and 4,000 Jackpot signs.
Additionally, a dual cellular communication network will be implemented to ensure reliable connectivity.
Regarding this transaction, NCEL CEO and Executive Director Mark Michalko said, "For 18 years, IGT has been a trusted partner of NCEL, supporting our continuous growth and record-breaking sales.
"Supporting public education is our mission, and now we raise over one billion dollars annually for our state. We look forward to maintaining a close working relationship with IGT. The new technology provided by IGT will help the lottery continue to responsibly increase sales and enhance our contributions to North Carolina."
Jay Gendron, IGT's Chief Operating Officer of Global Lottery, added, "NCEL is one of the top ten most successful lotteries in the USA, and IGT is pleased to be able to leverage our high-performance solutions to upgrade its retail technology, helping to drive sales growth.
