The Executive Secretary of the Ministry of Finance, Dario Durigan, estimated that about 90 percent of the pages will be out of service and only those that submitted their operation request to SIGAP will remain.
Brazil.- The Brazilian Minister of Finance, Fernando Haddad, reported that around 2,040 gambling websites will be out of service starting today for not having obtained authorization to operate in the country. The following list was transmitted to the National Telecommunications Agency (Anatel), which will be responsible for carrying out the operations. The block is in compliance with Ordinance 1.475 which states that those operators who did not request their operating license to start functioning from 2025 would be deactivated from today, October 11.
After eliminating the illegal websites, Haddad reiterated that there will be a 180-day period for public authorities to comment on the processes of the companies that requested authorization to operate in the country. "Unlike those that were on air until now, only those with prior authorization can enter. Now we are respecting the flow of those in the process of regularization," he clarified.
The minister also reinforced that companies not on the authorized list can no longer be advertised in the country and ensured that gambling sites attempting to circumvent the published list by the Ministry of Finance will be blocked.
The blocking process will be gradual, as it depends on the action of telecommunications companies to restrict user access to the websites. "It may happen that users can still access one of these sites, but it depends on the telecommunications companies to do it and in some cases, smaller companies may take longer," explained Haddad, adding that this is due to the large number of sites that Anatel must control and deactivate.
The minister also highlighted that the blocking will be continuous, and websites that try to evade the rules with new addresses will be identified and blocked again. "The blocking of unauthorized websites will be constant," affirmed Haddad.

According to the president of Anatel, Carlos Manuel Baigorri, the government will continuously monitor the main companies in the sector to ensure that the blocking is carried out effectively and as quickly as possible. "It is a continuous job, both from the National Telecommunications Agency and the Ministry of Finance, to do this monitoring so that all websites are blocked, those that eventually evade the block, that we identify, how this fraud is being carried out, so that new measures are taken to ensure an effective block," he explained.
"About 90 percent of the companies will cease to operate in the country, and only the regular websites will remain standing," said the Executive Secretary of the Ministry of Finance, Dario Durigan, after meeting with the president of Anatel, Carlos Baigorri, and the Secretary of Awards and Betting, Régis Dudena.
